Born Pretty Store Review: Halloween Stamping Plates

Hi guys! Today I have some Halloween stamping plates from Born Pretty Store to share with you. I have to say I'm really liking how they have been sealing the little pocket that the plate comes in, with a sticker. Also, the sticker has the name of the plate, which I think is pretty great. As always, the plates were well-etched, and I had no issue picking up images.

First up, is the Halloween-L001 Stamping Plate (item #43660). It has a ton of images that include: skeletons, ghosts, bats, candy, and even roses.

For this mani, I began with a pink base. Then, I did some reverse stamping with the candy images, using purple and green. Once dry, I stamped them onto my nails. For my ring finger, I decided to stamp on a skeleton, and then the word "boo", above the skeleton. I then applied top coat. Unfortunately, I ended up smearing some of the images, so I tried to correct that with some of the pink polish, and a last layer of top coat. I just love the accent nail on this one, that skeleton is great.

This is the Halloween-L002 Stamping Plate (item #43661). The plate images include: a skeleton couple, a variety of skeletons, pumpkins, bats, ghosts, etc.

For this mani, I began with a teal jelly glitter polish as my base. I chose to use different images for this nail art, and ended up doing some reverse stamping for some of the images. On my pointer, I stamped on a happy skeleton. On my middle nail, I stamped on a ghost and a pumpkin, as well as some stars around them. I chose to stamp a web and a spider on my ring nail, and some stars and bats on my pinky. To finish off, I applied top coat. This mani felt perfect for Trick-or-Treating, so cute and fun.

Next, is the Halloween-L003 Stamping Plate (item #43662). The plate includes images of: spiderwebs, a pair of creepy eyes, some Halloween balloons, splatters, and even some images that resemble Oogie Boogie and the hill from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

I chose the spiderweb frame-looking image on the bottom-left of the stamping plate for this look. For my base, I chose to use a lime green polish. Then, I picked up the image, and filled in some of the spaces with orange and purple. I did leave some spaces blank, that way the green would show through. Once, the orange and purple were dry enough, I stamped the image onto my pointer and middle nail. For my ring finger and pinky, I decided to do a sort of french tip. I picked up the image once again, using the sides of the image this time, and filling in the spaces again with the purple and orange, not leaving any blank spaces this time around. Once ready, I stamped the image onto my nails. I really like this look.

Finally, we have the Halloween-L004 Stamping Plate (item #43663). This one features: a mummy, some pumpkins, pumpkin expressions, and much more.

For this mani, I put on a purple base. Then, I chose to do a spider mani, so I picked up the web and spider images to stamp onto my nails. Once stamped, I waited for that to dry a bit, and finished off with top coat. This mani was very simple, but it looks pretty cool.

Born Pretty Store Review: Black Gel Polish, Holographic Nail Powder, Dual-Ended Silicone Tool, Nail Art Stickers, and Stamping Plate

Hey guys! Today I have a review of some Born Pretty Store items I was sent for review.

First up, we have this Black Gel Polish (item #41872).

I began by applying a peel-off base coat (you can tell because a part of my pinky is lifting), so after that dried, I applied the polish. I did 2 thin coats of the polish, curing after each coat. I then finished it off with a No-Wipe Gel Top Coat, and cured that. It ends up looking so shiny, and it's a great black.

Up next, we have the Holo Nail Powder (item #34011). The powder comes in a container with about 1.5g of product (according to the website), and an eyeshadow applicator.

I applied the powder right after trying out the Black Gel Polish, because it was ready for the powder when I applied the No-Wipe Top Coat. I actually tried using the Silicone Tool (which I'll be showing you in a bit), but I couldn't get it to work with the powder. Instead, I ended up using the applicator that was provided. To get it on my nail, I dipped the applicator into the powder, and then rubbed it on the nail. It wasn't really sticking on all the nail how I would've liked, so I started to press the applicator against my nail, sort of a dabbing motion. I found that worked best for me. Once I was satisfied with how it looked, I used a fluffy brush to get rid of the excess powder on my nails. Last thing to do, was to apply another coat of the No-Wipe Top Coat. Even though I wasn't able to achieve the full-holo look I was going for, I was still very happy with the end result. The powder was so beautiful, and the holo looked amazing.

Next, we have the Dual-Ended Silicone Tool (item #34225, #3). This tool, is supposed to help with applying and buffing in powders on your nails. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get it to work with the holo powder. I did manage to use it for my next nail art though. As you can see, the silicone tool has 2 different sides. There are a variety of other silicone tools available on the website as well, all with different sides. I personally liked the shapes this one had, and I found the doe-foot looking side helped with pressing down nail stickers on your nails because it's curved and nail-shaped. I haven't really tried the triangular-shaped side yet, but I'm sure I'll find a use for it.

So next, I have these Nail Art Stickers (item #20030, 24). These have some nice lace hearts and flowers, and they are gold. The stickers are pretty easy to work with, you just peel them off like a sticker, and then lay them onto your nail.

For this mani, I started with a blue base. I then picked the stickers I was going to use, and laid them on my nails, cutting the excess with some cuticle nippers. To make sure they stuck well on my nail, I used the silicone tool and rubbed them on. The shape of the silicone tool helped a lot because it's a bit curved, so it sat nicely on my nail. Once the stickers were down, I applied top coat.

Lastly, I have this gorgeous Baroque Design Stamping Plate BP-X01 (item #29974). I loved all the images, and they gave me a Haunted Mansion sort of feel which completely inspired my mani.

I started with a beautiful blurple as my base color, and then began choosing the images I would be using. I chose the candlestick because there's a floating candlestick in a hallway on the Haunted Mansion ride. Next, I picked the image that kind of looks like the wallpaper, and stamped it on my ring finger and pinky. For the middle nail, I chose to use the mirror. I stamped the image on my nail, and decided to use nail foil to make the mirror more real-looking. I applied nail foil glue to the middle, let it dry, and then pressed the foil onto the glue, rubbing it down to get it to stick. After that was done, I once again stamped on the mirror image to get a clean look. Since I used the foil, I went ahead and used the No-Wipe Gel Top Coat to finish this mani off, so the foil wouldn't wrinkle. I just love how this mani turned out, the mirror ended up looking so cool.

Born Pretty Store Review: New Products - Magnetic Polish & Cuticle Oil Pen

Happy Tuesday guys! Today I have 2 new products from Born Pretty Store to share with you. These, along with many other new arrivals, will be available for purchase tomorrow - June 6th. First up, we have a Magnetic Polish from the Aurora Series (item #42398), in the shade (BP-MA02) Lightning. I'm loving the new design of the bottles, they look very fancy and pretty. As for the polish, it went on smoothly and dried pretty quick. It did not come with a magnet though, so you will have to buy one if you don't already own one. I actually had a magnet from some magnetic Sally Hansen's I already owned, so I used that. I held the magnet over the polish while it was wet for 15+ seconds, to make sure I'd get an effect. I did this after the 2nd and 3rd coat, and after top coat as well. My swatches show 3 coats plus top coat.

Next, we have this Cuticle Oil Pen (item #39329) in the Pineapple scent. I usually wouldn't pick this scent, but it's not bad. The pen comes with a cap to keep it closed, and you just twist the bottom when you need more product. I've never tried a brush oil pen before, and I have to say that I really enjoyed using it. The oil absorbed quite fast, and it didn't leave my skin all oily, which was pretty nice.
