Born Pretty Store Review: 12 Piece Metallic Foil Set, Nail Foil Glue, Nail Foils, Holo Star Glitter & 12 Pattern Nail Water Decals

 Press Sample

Hi guys! It's been a while, but I'm glad to be back with a new post. Today I have some items from Born Pretty Store to share with you all. This time around, I received: a 12 piece metallic foil set, nail art glue and foils, some holo star glitter and a 12 pattern sheet of nail water decals. So how about we get started.
First up, we have the 12 Piece Metallic Foil Set (#18657, Multicolor). The set comes with 12 round containers with foils. The foils come in gold and silver, but there is also this option which gives you: gold, silver, rose gold and bronze. I really liked that they have this option because you can try all the different foils. I was especially excited to try out the rose gold.
Close-Ups:
For my nail art, I started off with a berry color. While that was drying, I began to take out the foils, and using an orange wood stick and tweezers, I proceeded to tear them up into little pieces. Once the base was dry, I applied a bit of base coat where I needed it to be sticky. Then, I began to lay down the pieces of foil in a gradient of: rose gold, bronze, gold and silver. Last thing to do was to add top coat. On my ring nail, I covered all my nail with the foil pieces to show you a different look. Isn't it pretty?

Next we have the Star Nail Foil Glue (#8082). Now, this was my very first time using both nail foils and nail foil glue. I've seen many people using them before, and it seems like a simple process. So, I began by applying a thin-even layer of it over my base color. After allowing it to dry (get clear), I put the piece of foil over the glue and rubbed it using an orange wood stick, and even my finger. Long story short, I was not very successful. Some of the image did stick onto my nail, but it wasn't a complete image like I thought it would be. A lot of the foil remained on the plastic, which was very disappointing to me. I gave it a few tries, and used different tools to rub the image off, but the manis I'll show you, are as good as it got. I also used my short clear jelly stamper to press it down, and nothing worked perfectly. I don't know if this glue is supposed to work with all types of foil, or if I did it wrong, but I was pretty disappointed in the end. I feel like maybe I just need practice, but I can't be sure. So if you guys have any tips, please leave them below, I'd really appreciate it.
So this is the Geometric Nail Foil (#37236). It's so beautiful. It has a clear plastic, and the design is sort of geometric. It has various black shapes, and silver lines that are holo. At first I thought it had both white and black, but the white spots you see are clear.
I began with a white base for the nail art, and once that dried I applied the foil glue. Like I explained above, the process has always seemed very straight-forward, but I did have some issues. As you can see, the foil did not apply nicely, and some parts are missing. I also finished off with a regular fast drying top coat, which seemed to take away from the holo effect. For the other nails, I just did a black base and added some rhinestones. Here's the end result, and even though it's not perfect, I actually liked this mani. But, I do wish the foil had transferred better.
Next is this gorgeous Purple Flower Nail Foil (#40010). It has a clear plastic background and the design is holo, which makes it even prettier. Again, I wish the foil had transferred better.
I started with a black base for my pointer and middle finger, purple on my ring finger, and pink on my pinky. On the black nails, I added a thin layer of the foil glue, and waited for it to dry. Once it was clear, I placed on the foil and transferred it as best as I could. To complete the look, I added some black rhinestones on my ring finger and pinky. Lastly, I applied top coat. This is another mani I really liked, but it would have looked much more stunning if the foil had transferred properly.

Next, we have this Holo Star Glitter (#41562, Colorful). They have 4 different options for these: silver, gold, blue and colorful. The stars come in 3 sizes, so you won't have a problem if you have shorter nails. They are also surprisingly thin, so you can bend them if you'd like, that way the glitter can lay down nicely if your nail curves. I think it'd make it a bit easier, I just didn't think about it beforehand. Lol. Just so you know, you will need a generous layer of top coat, as you usually do when you use glitters.
Close-Up:
For this mani, I started off with a black base. I wanted to do a sort of galaxy mani, but with a gradient pattern. So I began by laying down dark blue stars, followed by: light blue, silver, light pink, purple, and finally dark blue again. I placed them in a wavy pattern, and I just love how they look.
Close-Ups:
Last but not least, we have these 12 Pattern Nail Water Decals (#41410). They all came as one large sheet, but the sheet was a bit bent so I cut them out to give you a better look. As you can see, they are mostly Winter/Christmas designs. But, you can certainly use these in non-holiday manis if you'd prefer. The decals I ended up using were opaque on their own. I didn't use a base color for the purpose of the review, but I would recommend you use one just in case. Nail water decals are pretty simple to work with. You cut up the nail shape you want to use, remove the plastic, and submerge it in water for 20-30 seconds. You can then take out the decal, and remove it from the paper. It should slide off easily if it's ready. Then you can just place it on your nail, and it can be moved around while it's still wet. Once you're happy with placement, you can use a paper towel to pat the decal and absorb the excess water.
For my mani, I started off with a clear base coat on my middle and ring finger. On my pointer and pinky, I went with a blue polish. Like I said, I recommend you use a base color, because as you'll see in the close-ups, there were some little tears in the decal. I think I accidentally ripped it, and I didn't notice until I saw the close-ups. Anyway, I added some top coat, and then some round pale yellow glitters to finish off the look. Remember that these were from a Christmas design, I just chose the part that didn't have as much of a Christmas feel. As you can see, I was able to create a mani that doesn't scream "holiday".
