Beauty Big Bang Review: Portable UV/LED Gel Polish Lamp & White Soak-Off Gel Polish

 Press Sample

Hi guys, I hope you're all doing well. Today I'm back with a review of 2 Beauty Big Bang items. This time around, I received a Portable UV/LED Gel Polish Lamp (SKU: J2858-GN), as well as a White Soak-Off Gel Polish (SKU: J4497-2C). This was my very first time trying out gel polish, and I was pretty nervous about it since the process was new to me. One thing I should say, is that I probably should have gone with a one-step gel polish, especially since I'm a beginner. I didn't know there were gel polishes like that, until after, so I had to work with what I had. Anyway, how about we get into the review.
First up we have the Portable UV/LED Gel Polish Lamp which has 6W power. The lamp is available in various colors and comes with a USB cord, but you will need a power charger of your own. I ended up choosing the minty green color and it's so pretty. The lamp is also a bit smaller than my phone (a Samsung Galaxy S5), which is definitely a convenient size if you plan to travel and take it with you. The legs of the lamp can be opened up, and closed when not in use, so it's not bulky at all. As you'll see in the pictures, the lamp has a button in the back, as well as the connection port. Once connected, you can push the button when you're ready to use it, and the light turns on for 45 seconds. I found that the lamp was able to cure the polish with one press of the button, but I decided to do 2 rounds just in case. Also, I did feel a bit of heat on my nails while the polish was curing, I'm not sure if this is normal. Overall, I was pretty impressed with this lamp, especially since it's so tiny.
Next, we have the White Soak-Off Gel Polish. The polish is pretty easy to work with since you can apply it and fix it as you'd like. You don't have to worry about it drying too fast, since it will only harden when you cure it under the lamp.
For my swatches, I applied one coat and cured it. After curing, the surface of the polish was sticky, so I used a cotton ball with some rubbing alcohol to take away the stickiness. Then, I proceeded to apply a second coat and cured that as well. Once again, I used some rubbing alcohol to remove the sticky surface. Here's 2 coats of the polish, I did not add any top coat.

I also did some nail art over the swatches. I added a bit of base coat on my nail, and applied some flakies towards the edge of my pointer, middle and pinky. On my ring nail, I applied the flakies all over my nail. Then, I went ahead and stamped on the crystals and unicorns. The last thing to do was to apply some top coat. I ended up using some regular fast drying top coat, but I think I should've waited a bit longer because the images got a bit smeared. Other than that, I was very happy with the mani.
Close-Ups:
I think my first time using gel polish was successful. I can definitely recommend the Portable UV/LED Lamp. It's light, and easy to use. It's also perfect for travel, and they have a few colors to choose from. Now, if you're a beginner, I would recommend a different type of gel polish than the one I got. It's not a bad polish, but if you're just starting out like I am, then it would probably be easier to get a one-step gel polish.

Well, I hope you all enjoyed the review and mani. Remember, if you're planning to make a purchase from Beauty Big Bang, you can use my code ANNY for 10% off. I've also listed their socials below, in case you're interested.
